Key Stage 3
At Driffield school we look to provide our students with dynamic and exciting learning opportunities throughout Key Stage 3 in a number of ways.
As a Maths and Computing Specialist school we now offer our students access to a wide range of teaching and learning materials through our Virtual Teaching and Learning platform. Students are able to access, complete and submit homework tasks online, through links to the school network as well as having a wealth of self assessment tasks and activities available for them to undertake at home and in lessons. Through access to this resource students are able to continue to develop their independent learning styles beyond classroom hours.
Through our ICT specialism students now have access to over 866 computers on site; many of them are in our 14 dedicated computer rooms. In addition all classrooms are equipped with Interactive White Boards or projectors to allow staff to deliver high quality learning experiences. ICT is used extensively within subjects to enhance the learning activities available to our students.
We are currently fast tracking a cohort of Gifted and Talented Year 8 students on GCSE courses in Maths and Geography. These accelerated cohorts will be looking to sit their final exams at the end of Year 10 a year early. As part of our specialism this accelerated pathway will be rolled out to the cohort of Gifted and Talented Maths students earlier in the Key Stage.
In the Spring term in Year 8 we are running a Deep Learning Project on the theme of Malawi. This aims to enhance and enrich the students understanding and appreciation of a global topic, across all curriculum areas. This project will look to build on our already extensive links with the community projects we currently help to run and support in Malawi.
