Statistics GCSE
GCSE Statistics assesses students’ understanding of handling data and statistics, much of which is taught in the ordinary Maths GCSE.

Additional topics for this syllabus are studied in after-school sessions and at Spiers Bank. This is reviewed annually.
Entry Requirements
GCSE Statistics is offered as an additional full GCSE to a number of selected students from higher sets in KS4. Students in KS4 are selected by their maths teacher to study GCSE Statistics if they demonstrate a consistent ability and dedication to their studies.
Method of Assessment
Currently the assessment of GCSE Statistics is being reviewed by the exam board. The board has informed us that it is very likely that there will still be a coursework component consisting of 25% of the final grade. There will then be one final examination which accounts for the remaining 75%.
Future opportunities
Statistics supports A Level studies in Sciences, Geography, Psychology and Business. Skills that are learnt in Statistics GCSE can be easily transferred to many subjects, these skills include communication, analytical and logical thinking and teamwork.
