Music
Students will take part in activities based around listening, composing and performing. They will have a chance to use various items of equipment including keyboards, microphones, percussion instruments, African drums, digital recorders and computers. Students are encouraged to perform on their own, in small groups and as a whole class.

There are also many opportunities to take part in musical activities including the Rock Choir, Samba group, BIG Ensemble, Clarinet Group, Keyboard Club and other activities. The music department works very closely with dance and drama on several extra curricular projects.
The school is extremely well supported by peripatetic staff who provide tuition on brass, woodwind, strings, keyboard, drums and guitar. Students who are having instrumental lessons at their previous school will be able to continue with them and we try very hard to enable as many new students to start.
The facilities provided by the Performing Arts building enable the school to provide a wide range of opportunities for music making. These include three new music classrooms, a recording studio, four practice rooms, a piano and keyboard teaching room and a guitar/rock band rehearsal room.
