Key Stage 3 (Y7 – Y9)
At Driffield School & Sixth Form we provide our students with a variety of dynamic and exciting learning opportunities throughout Year 7, 8 and 9. We firmly believe that Key Stage 3 provides students with an important stepping stone to the future and thus we focus on developing the knowledge, skills and experiences that students will need to be successful.
In Year 7, we run a series of thematic enrichment days, where we collapse the usual timetable and students participate in a carousel of active workshops. The purpose of these days is to help students to develop their Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS, such as working independently, thinking creatively, working effectively as a team and managing their time and emotions. Through the thematic enrichment days, students have designed and launched rockets, solved murder mysteries, created their own superheroes, experienced Bollywood dancing and participated in many other exciting learning opportunities.
In January 2012 we launched our fabulous new Virtual Learning Environment - Frog. Frog has been designed in collaboration with students, to ensure that it meets the needs of our learners at Driffield School & Sixth Form. Frog can be used in school or any location in the World to access a multitude of different opportunities, which take students' learning well beyond the classroom. By using Frog, students are able to access differentiated support from lessons, revision material, learning games, news updates and much more. Frog even provides learners with an environment for safe and secure social networking with their peers, something which has proven very popular with our students!
