E-Safety
At Driffield School we pride ourselves on taking a lead in teaching our students how to use new technology safely. We have therefore appointed a specialist e-safety co-ordinator within the school as well as implementing a number of new initiatives to increase student, parent and staff awareness of issues relating to online safety.
All KS3 and KS4 students will receive a number of lessons this year, as part of the ICT curriculum, about how to stay safe in a digital world. These will be organised around an e-safety topic each term. This year the topics are as follows:
- Year 7 - Six lessons on how to use the internet for research
- Year 8 - Twelve lessons on e-safety whereby students create an e-safety website
- Year 9 - Two lessons on social networking
- Years 10/11 - Two lessons on social networking
We have a well established school e-safety policy which is updated annually and is available on the school website. Mrs Campbell, ICT teacher, is responsible for e-safety and in the first instance can provide advice and guidance in all matters relating to e-safety.
