Support for Students
Driffield School is fully committed to removing all barriers to learning and has created a Student Services Team (SST) to ensure the relevant policies and practices are put into action.
The leadership of this team brings together key personnel from both within the school and also workers from external agencies to ensure all additional needs which students may have are identified early and met effectively. The SST comprises of:
- The Pastoral Team
- The Special Educational Needs (SEN) Team
- Behaviour Support workers
- The Multi-agency Team
The importance of inclusion
The primary role of the SST is to make sure all students are included in all aspects of school life; focusing particularly on those who require extra help or support in their learning, or who have emotional, behavioural or physical needs.
Recognising the importance of inclusion is about ensuring that all children receive a quality experience in terms of how they learn, what they achieve and how they participate in the life of the school.
The Assistant Headteacher: Inclusion (Head of Student Services), Mrs Dalton, oversees student referrals to a wider multi-agency group, which meets at the school every month. The services which make up this group may give advice, help or support as required. Parents can access these services through their child’s Head of House or House Tutor, who will then liaise closely with the Assistant Headteacher: Inclusion.
The Multi-agency Team comprises workers from the following areas:
- Driffield School Pastoral Team
- Driffield School SEN Team
- Educational Psychology and Behaviour Support
- Education Welfare Service
- Connexions Service
- Social Services
- East Riding Youth Service
- Family Support Services
- Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
- East Riding of Yorkshire Primary Care Trust (health services)
- Community Police
- Safer Communities
