School Meals
The School operates a cashless system for the payment of school lunches and for music tuition lessons as provided by the Local Authority’s Music Service.
At the heart of the system there is a computer controlled by
I.M.P.A.C.T software. This allows the system to recognize each
individual student, hold individual cash balances, record cash spent and
cash received, record where money is spent, on what foods, on any
specific date and time of the day.
The benefits of the system are:
- Convenience – parents not searching for change on a daily basis. Payments can be made on a given date or a regular basis.
- Parents will have peace of mind that their child/children are on School site and are purchasing a healthy lunch. Discourages the misuse of school dinner money through spending in shops outside of the school grounds.
- The system is secure. The cards are swiped and a picture of the students is shown on the till, if the person using the card is not the owner, the student will not be served. This will combat theft and loss of money.
- Students will be able to check balances on a daily basis to ensure funds are available. Parents can view balances through Parentpay. Gives students some experience in the use of cards and managing money.
- Cards are credited using the parentpay system, cash or cheques. The parentpay system is a unique web service that lets parents make secure online payments by credit and debit cards to the school. The system was introduced in conjunction with the cashless system and the two systems work together in partnership.
The School has three canteens:
- West - provides traditional, hot, healthy school meals including vegetarian options, salad and pasta meals, for all year groups.
- North - a cafeteria providing sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, jacket potatoes and salad for Years 7 to 9.
- East - a cafeteria providing sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, jacket potatoes and salad for Years 10 to 13.
