Heads Round Up 18-09-17

Friday, 15 September 2017 09:10

15 September 2017

Firstly, I must take a moment to celebrate the success of our students this year across our schools within our Multi-academy Trust. We have such fantastic students and outstanding staff in all our schools and the Trust is very proud of all their achievements.
South Hunsley School became an academy in April 2011 and was assessed by OFSTED as outstanding in 2013. In 2015, we became a Multi-academy Trust to enable us to open a primary free school, Hunsley Primary, to support the increasing numbers of families moving into the area due to housing developments. Malet Lambert School joined the Trust in February 2016, followed by Driffield School and Sixth Form in February 2017 and Cavendish Primary School will join in February 2018. We are also a successful Teaching School and now a School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider.

To continue and build on our present successes, we have developed a succession plan to ensure we continue to be a high performing trust, where learners are encouraged to achieve their potential and we employ only the very best teachers.

As part of our succession plan, Jonny Uttley, currently Executive Principal for South Hunsley School, has recently undergone a rigorous assessment process and as a result has been appointed to the position of Designate CEO of The Education Alliance. He was assessed by Members of our Board, joined by an experienced external advisor who is a National Leader and former CEO himself. The decision to appoint Jonny to this role has been endorsed by Members and Trustees.

Jonny will move into this role next April. This provides time to recruit a Head of School for South Hunsley for Easter 2018. Chris Abbott, will continue in her current role as CEO until Easter 2018 and then will become Executive Lead of the Trust to oversee the induction of Jonny Uttley while continuing to be responsible for the overall performance and central services of the Trust until August 2019. Jonny will induct the new Head of South Hunsley.

The Trust will advertise the Head of School vacancy within the next two weeks and we anticipate attracting an excellent selection of talented school leaders.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I hope you will join me in congratulating Jonny Uttley on becoming Designate CEO for The Education Alliance. We will keep you updated as we progress through an exciting time of change as we seek to recruit a talented Head of School.

Year 6 Transition Evening Survey

Year 6 Transition Evening

As we value communication with parents and carers, as part of the recent Year 6 Transition Evening last week, we asked parents to complete an evaluation form to gauge their views.  We are very pleased with the feedback we have received from both existing parents and those who are new to Driffield School.  Many thanks.
