Welcome to Driffield Schools Eco-Site

As part of the worldwide ‘Eco Schools’ scheme, we will be starting many environmentally friendly projects which will make the school a leader in raising awareness about environmental concerns.
You can use this page to keep up to date with current projects running at the school, such as the clothing recycling scheme which is detailed below, and the progress of the paper, mobile phone and print cartridge recycling. You will also be able to find out about future projects, and what you can do to help.
There will also be many links to great environmental sites, which are fun, thought provoking and educational.
Please revisit this page regularly to keep up to date with developments at Driffield school.
Driffield School is now one of the only schools in the country to
use 100% recycled paper for all its general use. This is a major breakthrough
because recycled paper costs considerably more than non recycled paper. Our
supplier managed to meet our price requirements (i.e. to not pay any more
than we have been previously paying) because we are a high volume user and
a reliable customer. If anyone reading this has been considering changing
to recycled paper for their company, it is definitely worth negotiating with
your paper supplier, as the customer has the power. If they can’t meet
your price target, then shop around! Make sure that you get paper that is
guaranteed compatible with your printers, though.
We have also begun a new printer cartridge recycling scheme. For more details,
Volunteers wanted to help run the Eco schools scheme.
Willing students are needed to work with the team to collect paper from
around the school, plan projects, and attend Eco Schools meetings.
