Education Welfare Service

Our Education Welfare Officer, from the LEA, works closely with us in school to monitor pupil attendance and to follow up cases where difficulties present themselves. If unauthorised absence becomes a problem, the EWO often works with the parents, the Head of Year and the student to see how the situation can be resolved. Where there is need for close or continued involvement of the EWO, you will be informed of the situation. Home visits by the EWO are one way in which the EWO can help to establish a close link between home and school and offer advice on problems when they occur.
