School Policies
Here are the current School Policies for Driffield School.
Able, Gifted and Talented Policy (AGT)
Driffield School is fully committed to inclusive education where diversity is valued and the principle of equal opportunity is applied to all.
Acceptable Use of ICT Resources – Key Points for Students
The school has provided ICT resources for use by students, offering access to vast amounts of information to assist you with your studies.
Access to Education for Children and Young People with Medical Needs
Students on the roll of Driffield School who are unable to attend because of medical needs will remain the responsiblity of the school in terms of educational provision.
Accessibility Plan 2006 -2009
The SEN and Disability Act 2001 extended the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) to cover education. Since September 2002, the Governing Body has had three key duties towards disabled students, under part 4 of the DDA;
Anti-Bullying Policy and Procedures
We are aware that bullying can happen anywhere, but we strongly believe that wherever students are they have the right to be safe. Nobody has the right to make anyone unhappy.
Assessment, Recording and Reporting Policy
Assessment is concerned with determining where the child is in the learning process to enable an effective and appropriate provision.
School Attendance and Punctuality Policy
Improving and maintaining school attendance requires a committed partnership. This involves parents/carers and families, teachers and support staff, governors, the LEA support services and other agencies working constructively and supportively with young people.
Charging and Remissions Policy
The Governors wish to make the school’s programme of curriculum visits and activities available to as many students as possible. They endorse the principle that no student should have access to the curriculum limited by charges but recognise they have to operate within the constraints of the school budget.
Child Protection Policy and Procedures
Effective child protection depends not only on reliable and accepted systems of co-operation, but also on skills, knowledge and judgment of all staff working with children in relation to child protection matters. It is important therefore that people in direct contact with children receive training to raise awareness.
Complaints Procedure
Most complaints can be quickly resolved by talking to the teacher or member of staff concerned. To do this you can contact the school to arrange a time to meet with the person concerned and discuss the problem.
Disability Equality Scheme December 2006 - 2009
Duties under part 5A of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
Discipline Policy
The Education Act 2002 made changes to the law on exclusions, school discipline policies, detention and the use of force to control or restrain students.
Drugs Policy
Driffield School is committed to the Health and Safety of its members and will take action to safeguard their well-being. The school will not condone the misuse of drugs or alcohol by members of the school nor the illegal supply of these substances.
Policy for Students with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
At Driffield School the teaching and learning, achievements, attitudes and well-being of all our children are important. We believe that children learning English as an Additional Language are entitled to the full National Curriculum programmes of study and all teachers have a responsibility to develop the use of the English Language within their subject context.
Equal Opportunities Policy
The school’s Equal Opportunities Policy is founded on its aims, vision and values, whose core function is to provide the highest possible quality of teaching and learning for all students of all abilities in all areas of the curriculum to maximise the potential of every student.
